Matt Papa's 5 Favorite Keith Green Songs

Oh Lord, You're Beautiful

This one is pretty classic Keith.  It has the passion and rawness that epitomizes his music, along with the plainness of speech…like we were spying into someone’s prayer journal.  The song lacks some of the musical ambition of his other works, but the simplicity gives it a certain dignity….

Oh Lord, you're beautiful,
Your face is all I seek
For when your eyes are on this child,
Your grace abounds to me

I want to take your word and shine it all around
But first help me to just, live it Lord
And when I'm doing well, help me to never seek a crown
For my reward is giving glory to you

Oh Lord, please light the fire
That once burned bright and clean
Replace the lamp of my first love
That burns with holy fear

What he’s praying here is true and beautiful.  It’s broken and honest.  I love how you can tell he’s not over-concerned with rhyming…(see the chorus below) he’s just saying what he wants to say to his God.

"Oh Lord, You're Beautiful" Lyrics

Oh Lord, you're beautiful,
Your face is all I see,
For when your eyes are on this child,
Your grace abounds to me

Oh Lord, you're beautiful,
Your face is all I see,
For when your eyes are on this child
Your grace abounds to me

I want to take your word and shine it all around
But first help me to just, live it Lord
And when I'm doing well, help me to never seek a crown
For my reward is giving glory to you

Oh Lord, please light the fire
That once burned bright and clean
Replace the lamp of my first love
That burns with holy fear

I want to take your word and shine it all around
But first help me to just, live it Lord
And when I'm doing well, help me to never seek a crown
For my reward is giving glory to you

Oh Lord, you're beautiful
Your face is all I see
For when your eyes are on this child
Your grace abounds to me

Oh Lord, you're beautiful
Your face is all I see
For when your eyes are on
